Premier League record-holder Milner announces retirement

Former England international James Milner has announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a remarkable 24-year career in the Premier League.

The veteran midfielder leaves the game at the age of 40 after spending the last three seasons with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Milner was a free agent following the expiration of his contract and has now decided to call time on one of the most enduring careers in English football.

Career ends with Premier League record

Earlier this year, Milner became the player with the most appearances in Premier League history, surpassing the previous record and further cementing his place among the competition’s all-time greats.
